Brazil leads the first day of the FINA diving team show

This morning, the Abu Dhabi Water Sports Festival showcased another first in the field of water sports, because during the FINA Diving Team Exhibition, Yas Bay was the first ever mixed team diving competition held in an open water venue.

In the mixed team diving competition, 10 teams representing Australia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Britain, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine and the United States participated in 3 diving competitions today on the 3-meter springboard. The female diving first went to the deck. The Tokyo Olympic 3m synchronized event gold medalist Wang Han put the Chinese team ahead of Brazil in the first round with a smooth back 2-1/2 somersault posture of 73.50 points.

The second round saw the men’s team perform, and the Brazilian Cavan Figuereto performed a solid dive with a score of 68.25. With Figuegredo’s efforts and teammate Luana Lira’s 61.50 match, Brazil leads China. The third and final round of the first day of the mixed team event featured mixed synchronized diving. Chinese players Li Zheng and Wang Han scored 63.00, making up for the day that Lian Junjie’s second round of diving ended with runner-up results. The best diving of this round was done by American players Christa Palmer and Benjamin Bramley.
