Brazil tourism board to focus on industry facelift

The Brazilian Tourism Agency (Embratur) has appointed Marcelo Freixo as its new president, who will focus on restoring Brazil’s image abroad in order to attract more tourists, bring investment and create jobs at home.

Freixo was appointed on 13 January by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

“After four years of international isolation caused by the irresponsibility of the previous government, Brazil will return to the international arena and resume its leading role in promoting dialogue, cooperation, and attention to environmental issues and climate change. At Embratur, our mission is to serve Brazil Tourism provides the relevance it deserves and what the world expects of us,” he explained.

On the same day Fresso took over as Embraer president, he announced that the first step would be an internal reorganization.

“We will be technically and transparently governed according to good market practice. We will restore our focus on data intelligence and big data, partnerships with the public and private sectors, investments in innovation, the insertion and focus of the sustainable development agenda and climate action. The focus on marketing, promoting and supporting commercialization of Brazil abroad is about results,” he declared.

The new president intends to work directly with ministers working directly with the modernization of public policies and programs aimed at promoting foreign tourism.

“In addition to integrating our actions into the foreign policy agenda and the agenda of the ministries of Lula’s government, we will resume dialogue with the market and entities that carry out international outreach actions. We will build a modern, professional, efficient Embraer,” he concluded.

Marcelo Freixo, 55, a history teacher, was born in a poor neighborhood in São Gonzalo, in the metropolitan area of ​​Rio de Janeiro. Freixo was elected state deputy in Rio de Janeiro for the first time in 2006. Freixo was a key player in the transition team of the Lula Government, integrating the tourism group. – trade arab news agency
