exclusive: Briercliff Entertainment has acquired the US distribution rights to the sequel to Christian Gudegast’s action-thriller, Den of Thieves 2: Panther which stars gerard butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. reprise their respective “Big Nick” and “Donny” roles. Wide release is planned for the fourth quarter of 2024.
Gudegast also wrote the script for productions funded by eOne and Tucker Tooley Entertainment.
In the sequel, Big Nick returns to hunt down Downey through the mean streets of Europe, while Downey is drawn into the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the notorious Black Panther Mafia as they mastermind the world’s largest diamond deal The Massive Heist. Also directed and written by Gudegast and distributed by STX, the original 2018 film grossed nearly $45 million in the US and over $80 million in WW.
“We are huge fans of Gerard Butler, we have worked with him countless times and are delighted to be joining him, Christian Goodgast, producer Tucker Tully and the fantastic supporting cast . Movies like this make going to the theater fun, and we can’t wait for moviegoers to have the opportunity to see it on the big screen,” said Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg.

Tooley is produced through his Tucker Tooley Entertainment, G-BASE’s Butler and Alan Siegel, and Mark Canton.
The deal was negotiated by Ortenberg and Jessica Rose on behalf of Briarcliff Entertainment and eOne’s Rosalind Read on behalf of the filmmakers. Sierra Affinity will manage the film’s international sales.
