Radukanu, ranked 150th, defeated Fernandez in straight sets 6-4 and 6-3 to win the championship, thus completing her grand slam fairy tale.

She is also the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in 44 years.

Since Virginia Wade at Wimbledon in 1977, no British woman has won a major event, and Radukanu was the first American Open since Wade in 1968. The British champion.

Wade and British men’s tennis legend Tim Henman were among the 23,700 sold-out crowds who created a warm atmosphere of the first women’s Grand Slam final by non-seeded players at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“It makes a lot of sense to have Virginia and Tim here,” Radukanu Said After her victory. “Having such British legends and idols allows me to follow in their footsteps. It is really helpful. It definitely makes me believe that I can really do it.”

1 hour 51 minutes

The matchup of geniuses is the first all-teens Grand Slam final since 17-year-old Serena Williams defeated 18-year-old Martina Hingis to win the 1999 U.S. Open.

The much-anticipated meeting drama generated tension from the beginning.

Fernandez saved five break points in the first serve of the game, then finally hit a forehand in the 10-minute game to give Raducanu a 2-0 lead.

Fernandez fought back in the third game, and Raducanu hit a backhand at the fourth break point she faced.

Each game has a roller coaster of powerful shots and sensational shots, and the first set of games hangs on the blade after another.

Raducanu forced three break points in Fernandez’s serve in the 10th game, but the backhand was long and wide and into the net. In her fourth chance, Raducanu defeated a forehand winner 58 minutes later and won the first set.

In the second set, Fernandez saved three break points and maintained it to 1-1. Raducanu broke the net with a backhand to lead 2-1.

Raducanu broke serve to 2-2, blasted a backhand cross and returned the ball to the winner to equalize the score, and then the Canadian passed the forehand to the winner and scored 4-2 to gain the advantage.

Raducanu maintained and forced two match points on Fernandez’s serve in the 8th game, but missed the backhand and hit the forehand. The championship was at stake, and Fernandez led 5-3.

Fernandez scored a 30-40 break chance in the 9th game. At that time, Raducanu slipped his left knee on the court and opened the bleeding wound. The game was suspended and the coach bandaged the wound.

Fernandez wiped away his tears and complained to the referee that it would not help to approve the medical suspension. When the game resumed, Fernandez sent a long forehand, wasting a break chance, and Raducanu ended the game with her third aces in 1 hour and 51 minutes.

Raducanu is the youngest U.S. Open champion since Serena Williams in 1999, and the first U.S. Open women’s champion without a drop since Williams in 2014.

Of all women’s Grand Slam champions, she has the least number of Grand Slam starts. She entered the fourth round of Wimbledon in July in her only previous Grand Slam match, while Fernandez played in the previous six Grand Slam matches. Only four games have been won in China.

She also became the youngest Grand Slam champion since the 17-year-old Maria Sharapova won the Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2004.
