Jason AlexanderThe 40-year-old pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges in a California court, prosecutors in Ventura County announced Thursday. A Ventura County judge sentenced him to 64 days in prison. Prosecutors dropped charges of felony stalking and misdemeanor vandalism.
Spears married longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari at his home in Thousand Oaks, California, on June 9 with dozens of guests, including Serena Gomes, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Madonna. Alexander, a childhood friend of Spears, whom she married less than three days in 2004, made an uninvited appearance at the home on Instagram live before the ceremony.
While Spears was inside preparing for the wedding, he entered the house and walked to the locked door to Spears’ bedroom, according to testimony at the preliminary hearing. Prosecutors said Alexander refused to leave the property after being told, assaulted a security guard who tried to remove him, and damaged a door.
After he pleaded, the judge issued a new protective order barring him from coming within 100 yards of Spears or security guards.
Alexander’s attorney, Sandra Bisignani, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. She previously told the court there was no evidence he had any intention to harm Spears. Spears’ attorney declined to comment.
