Cafu launches recruitment drive; plans to expand fleet by 35%

Cafu, the MENA region’s first on-demand car service designed entirely around consumer needs, is conducting a recruitment drive and plans to increase its current workforce by 30%.

The Dubai-born startup will also increase its fleet by 35% to meet growing consumer demand.

Cafu is divided into two operating functions. Cafu Technology focuses on technology platforms, supporting products and support services that allow customers to connect and place orders; Cafu Petroleum provides core services to customers and is responsible for operations and logistics.

According to Cafu’s first Sustainability Report 2021, which is divided into three sections: Environment, Social Capital and Governance, Ethics and Integrity, the company has 151 full-time employees from 27 different countries. There are now plans to add more than 60 roles across the organization, including more than 40 in technology and product.

The company, which opened in 2018, will also expand its fleet. Cafu increased its fleet size by about 35% throughout the third quarter to meet growing consumer demand.

Rashid Al Ghurair, founder and CEO of Cafu, said: “Our first Sustainability Report gives us a comprehensive view of the organisation on three key metrics from a falcon’s perspective and shows how we have achieved in such a short period of time. In its employee engagement survey, “All Hands,” 64% of employees rated Cafu a 7/10 or better as their recommended workplace. Almost one-third of Cafu Tech employees and 12.5 percent of Cafu Oil employees are women.

Cafu, which expanded its services to Abu Dhabi last year, also began collecting and reporting its greenhouse gas emissions as part of its pledge to become a carbon-neutral company. The report shows that throughout 2021, the company recorded total emissions (tCO2e) of 642,723.7. Cafu’s internal operating (NOx) emissions were 16,473,817 grams. The total energy consumption in 2021 will be 96.9816 million megajoules.

In 2021, Cafu disposed of 12.3 tonnes of waste through its waste management partner Ecyclex, of which 3.1 tonnes were hazardous waste. A pilot service developed in partnership with Blue LLC, launched in December 2021, includes the collection of used cooking oil for refining into biodiesel.

Contributing to a more sustainable environment, Cafu launched the Ghaf Tree Seeds project in 2021 in partnership with UAE University, which aims to plant 1 million seeds through custom drone technology, expanding the programme to help ultimately respond The worst climate change climate in the world.
