Nobel Prize Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and K. Barry Sharpless received their PhDs in click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry on Wednesday at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.


In 2021, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to scientists Benjamin List and David WC MacMillan for their discovery of a more environmentally friendly way of building molecules; in 2020, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna for their discovery of genes Technology tool CRISPR/Cas9 gene scissors.


Nobel Prize announcement kicks off Monday with Swedish scientists Swante Pabo Medal for his work on Neanderthal DNA.

Frenchman Alain Aspect, American John F. Clauser and Austrian Anton Zeilinger shared the award Physics Prize On Tuesday, their work on quantum physics.

The awards will continue to award literature on Thursday, peace on Friday and economics on Monday. The cash prize for the Nobel Prize is SEK 10 million (nearly $900,000) and will be awarded on December 10.
