CBS abandoned the “activists” after being strongly opposed on social media and adapted it into a documentary

TSR Updatez: People have already said that “The Activist”, which was originally set as a reality show series, has been scrapped on CBS.

Within a few hours after the show was announced, CBS came under fire last week Because of its attempt to transform community activism into a competition program. In addition to people calling the show’s producer “deaf,” Julianne Hough was one of the three signing judges for the show. Strongly opposed, this is of no avail.

according to CNN, CBS and production partners Global Citizen and Live Nation said, “Activists aim to show the enthusiasm, long-term and originality of activists to change the world to a wide audience, hoping to inspire others to do the same. However, it is clear that the format of the announcements has distracted the important work these incredible activists do in their communities every day. “

“Promoting global change is not competition. It requires global joint efforts. Therefore, we are changing the format to eliminate the competitive factor and reimagining the concept as a prime-time documentary special program (broadcast date to be determined),” the statement said.

The series was originally set up for six activists from all over the world, who came together to “bring meaningful change to one of three urgent universal causes: health, education, and the environment.”

“Activists will participate in missions, media stunts, digital sports, and community events aimed at attracting the attention of the world’s most powerful decision makers, demanding immediate action,” according to the description of the show.

Hough, Usher and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will initially serve as referees.

“Thank you for using your voice and calling me, your sense of responsibility and your frankness,” Hough wrote in an Instagram post. “I listen deeply with an open mind and thoughts.”

The new program “will showcase the tireless efforts of six activists and the impact they advocate for the cause they believe in”, and “according to the original program’s plan, each activist will receive a cash grant from the organization of their choice,” according to Statement by CBS.
