During the recent CEO dialogue held by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, CEOs representing some of the leading companies in the UAE presented business cases that promote and improve diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

High-level speakers participating in the CEO dialogue include: Mr. Hassan AlHashemi, Vice President of International Relations, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Luay Al Shurafa, President and Managing Director, General Motors Africa and Middle East, Mr. Luciano Poli, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, Dow Chemical President, Ms. Shamsa Al Falasi, Managing Director, Head of Global Subsidiary Group GCC Iraq, Citigroup, Ms. Noha Hefny, Founder and CEO of The People of Impact, shared about diversity and promoting inclusiveness in the workplace Nature, strategies, best practices, tools, and metrics.

In his opening speech, Mr. Hassan AlHashemi stated that addressing diversity and inclusion requires the commitment of the senior management team. He said that the UAE is a model of a diverse country. Al Hashemi stated that investing in a diversified but inclusive workplace requires the commitment of senior management, and emphasized the importance of activities such as CEO dialogues, which provided industry leaders to share knowledge, experience and best practices and their lessons. Ms. Shamsa Al Falasi, managing director of Citigroup and head of GCC Iraq, a global subsidiary group, recommends that leaders establish partnerships and collaborations with different types of organizations to learn their best practices, adopt and implement the same practices to increase diversity And inclusiveness, and at the same time let the leader act as the employee’s mentor to encourage inclusiveness. She emphasized the importance of benchmarking to understand where the company is, to dig deeper into the gaps that exist, and to try to fill them.

Ms. Noha Hefny, founder and CEO of The People of Impact, said that progress requires the commitment of top leaders backed by reliable strategies, investments, and measurable actions.
