music: singer’s season
Arkansas Chamber Singer October 14th at 7:30pm and October 16th at 3pm at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, according to a press release. Following the retirement of longtime conductor John Owen, the concert will feature a series of guest conductors, starting with Loreza Mason, director of choral activities at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Seasonal tunes, classical and popular, and added from vocal jazz repertoire. Memphis conductor Gabriel Statom will be on the podium. Free, covered by Warfield Concert Series.
◼️ “Christmas in English,” an arrangement of traditional carols and original choral compositions from the UK, December 9 at 7pm, December 10-11 at 3pm, at the Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock. With harpist Anna Kathryn Pepper; Statom conducts. free.
◼️ “Spring Is Near”, March 3 at 7:30 pm, March 5 at 3 pm, St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 805 Sherman St., Little Rock. The show includes Benjamin Britton’s “Song of Five Flowers” and “Let Our Garden Grow” from Leonard Bernstein’s “The Honest.” Andrew Morgan, conductor of the Hendricks College Choir, will be on the podium.
◼️ “Heavenly House,” May 12 at 7:30 pm, May 14 at 3 pm, Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., Little Rock. Joshua Brown, Director of Choral Activities at Ouachita Baptist University, will conduct Shawn Kirchner’s three singles “Heavenly Home,” as well as work by Maurice Durufle, Johannes Brahms, Daniel Gawthrop, Blake Henson and Marques Garrett.

Champions and would-be champions and their 12,000-pound giant trucks shred the dirt in a race of speed and skill Monster Jam Arena Championship Series West, March 25 at 7 p.m. and March 26 at 3 p.m. at the Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock. The truck lineup (subject to change) includes Grave Digger driven by Krysten Anderson; El Toro Loco driven by Elvis Lainez; Earth Shaker driven by Tristan England; Jurassic Attack driven by Dalton Widner; Monster driven by Bailey Shea Mutt Dalmatian; and Raminator driven by Mark Hall.
