Channing Tatum just wore his heart on his sleeve and revealed the inspiration behind his Sparkella book series.
Tatum weighs everything in an interview Entertainment tonight.
There, he thanked his daughter for helping him and being his muse in this latest installment.
In this chat with host Rachel Smith Tatum, she explains why the book is “very different from the first two.”
For those unfamiliar, the book is called The Only Sparkella and Whopper.
To explain further, Tatum was quoted as saying: “The former two are somehow related.”
“The first one is about the anxiety of expecting a new place, and then the second is about when your expectations completely fall through… what do you do to make the most of it? It’s kind of a complete departure.”
Tatum also referenced a conversation he had with a teacher, adding, “They sort of tried to figure out what it meant, and it made them think it was okay? What’s the difference between a fiction and a lie?”
The main impetus behind the first book was the moment when his daughter Everly told her “a big lie”.
The lie in question is about a time when she “stealed a little toy car from school and she got sick of it”.
“[One night], she kept calling me back. I could tell it was a little different, but I thought she was just rushing me. Then, all of a sudden, it was like tears streaming down my face. “
“She was like, ‘I need to tell you something, but I’m terrified that I’m going to be expelled from school and you’re going to call the police.’ It was like a whole spiral of fear.”
“You could tell she was just enduring it for a few weeks and it made her sick.”
“And then once she told me, which I obviously had to tell her, I was like, ‘Listen, as long as you tell me the truth, you’ll stay out of trouble. It’s okay, I’m not going to call the police, you’ll be fine.’ And then she Tell me, I can see the weight loss all over her body.”
During the chat, Tatum also admitted that her daughter was “in the dark like everyone else” when it came to the new book, because “we kind of wanted it to be a surprise for her.”
