Tsai met with a delegation of U.S. politicians from Republicans and Democrats during her stop in the United States on Wednesday after visiting Guatemala and Belize, two of Taipei’s dwindling official allies.

“China will take resolute and effective measures to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity in response to the seriously wrong actions of the US-Taiwan collusion,” the foreign ministry said in a statement issued by Xinhua.
Beijing claims Taiwan as its territory and denies any official contact by Taipei with other countries.
China has vowed to seize it one day, by force if necessary.

The foreign ministry said Wednesday’s meeting “seriously violated the one-China principle”, referring to a policy officially recognized by the United States for decades.
The Taiwan issue is the core of China’s core interests, and it is also the first red line that cannot be crossed in Sino-US relations.
The Ministry of National Defense also condemned Tsai Ing-wen’s meeting with McCarthy, according to Xinhua.
“We resolutely oppose all forms of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, and oppose visits by leaders of the Taiwan authorities to the United States under any name or under any pretext,” the foreign ministry said in a statement, according to Xinhua.
“(The People’s Liberation Army) will resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” the ministry added.
