China Sanctions Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Missiles and Defense Firms

February 16 (United Press International) — Beijing will sanction the missile and defense subsidiaries of Lockheed Martin Corp and Raytheon Co, adding them to the government’s list of “unreliable entities,” China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Thursday.

Ministry of Commerce explain This move is “in order to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, in accordance with the provisions of the “Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the “National Security Law of the People’s Republic of China” and other relevant laws.”

The Defense Department said it “decided to add Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Missiles and Defense, which are involved in arms sales to Taiwan, to the Unreliable Entity List.”

The companies are “prohibited from engaging in import and export activities related to China,” according to the press release.
