Their success also further enhanced China-Arab relations and China’s status. – GCC relations reach new heights. As the world faces increasing uncertainties and a possible long-term economic recession, China-Arab cooperation has greater weight in maintaining multilateralism and global development. Likewise, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is seen as injecting certainty into a world of increasing uncertainty. In this issue of Global Times, a reporter from the Global Times interviewed Ali Obaid al-Zahri, the UAE ambassador to China, and had a dialogue on topics such as China-UAE cooperation, bilateral relations, and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

celebrate friendship

Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, the UAE ambassador to China, told the Global Times that the convening of the China-UAE summit is a testament to the strong relationship between the two countries and a celebration of the relationship between the two countries. Friendships and partnerships developed among them. Exclusive interview.

He pointed out that the summit has formulated a strategic plan for future cooperation, and all countries and our people can enjoy the benefits of these cooperation.

According to him, the Arab forefathers opened up the maritime “Spice Road” to complement China’s iconic “Silk Road”, and the collaborative spirit of these networks is in the modern world through China’s “visionary” Belt and Road Initiative (OBOR) .

China’s broad and multifaceted cooperation with the Arab world has been reinvigorated through the Belt and Road Initiative; it has entered a new paradigm, the ambassador stressed.

He told the Global Times that China and Arab countries have always been “good friends and good partners, and Arab-Chinese relations are a clear example”.

The Arab world has a profound historical relationship with China, which can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century AD. This early golden age of prosperous commercial relations saw the opening of new trade routes, facilitating the exchange of knowledge in the sciences of medicine, mathematics and astronomy.

“Today, this complementary and mutually beneficial trade dynamic has been re-established and defined; it has developed into a second golden age of relations between China and the Arab world,” he said.

Extraordinary performance

“Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the living standards of the Chinese people have undergone earth-shaking changes, and all aspects of economic and social development have achieved world-renowned achievements.” The ambassador said.

“The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China presents China’s development roadmap for the next few years. This is crucial to the world, as the risks and challenges we face are increasingly complex, because China today is the growth engine of the global economy,” He said. Say.

He pointed out that China’s peaceful rise is indeed “historic and has generated numerous positive responses around the world.

“This affects the Middle East in particular because we’ve seen a boom in trade and investment from China.”

In his view, China’s practice and experience of reform, opening up and economic transformation are worthy of emulation by other countries.

The UAE is also on the path of economic transformation, from an underdeveloped, oil-based country to a knowledge-based and innovative society. With this in mind, the UAE has adopted effective strategies and policies to instill a culture of innovation in our society and economy. “I believe that in the future, our two countries can inject stronger impetus into the development of cooperation in scientific research, technology and innovation,” he said.

Looking forward to more cooperation

The UAE was one of the first countries to join the “Belt and Road” initiative, and the country is now the main logistics hub of the “Belt and Road” initiative in the Middle East and North Africa.

Currently, the UAE accounts for more than 60 percent of China’s exports to the region, and they hope to further accelerate infrastructure development under the Belt and Road Initiative.

“Over the past two years, our two countries have joined hands to tackle this major global challenge, a testament to the growing depth and strength of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China. As such, the UAE is one of the first countries to embark on this path in Following a vaccination campaign for all its citizens and residents, vaccines are provided free of charge to all. Ultimately, the UAE is committed to being a leader in delivering international aid and global relief initiatives,” the ambassador said.

Major projects such as the Jebel Ali Port, the second phase of the Khalifa Port Container Terminal, and the China-Arab Production Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Zone are important projects for the unprecedented interconnection between China and the Arab states. With the support of the “Belt and Road” connectivity, China has now become the UAE’s largest trading partner, and there are currently more than 6,000 Chinese companies doing business in the UAE. Many memorandums of understanding have been signed, launching new partnerships in various fields.

“I believe the scope of this partnership will continue to expand and diversify, with new areas of cooperation including climate change mitigation, innovation and technology, food security, energy security, financial services, education and international humanitarian assistance,” he said.

It has been 38 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and China, and it has been 4 years since the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership. The bilateral relationship between the UAE and China is exemplary. China is our largest trading partner, and its $9.3 billion investment stock ensures that the UAE is China’s largest non-oil trading market in the MENA region.

The UAE and China share a vision for a green future; both countries are committed to combating climate change and reducing carbon emissions to ensure sustainability. The UAE’s 2050 Net Zero Strategy initiative echoes China’s “Dual Carbon” strategy, and the two countries have been cooperating closely in the fields of clean and renewable energy. As host of next year’s COP28 summit, the UAE will continue to prioritize the climate agenda. At the same time, the UAE will join hands with our strategic partner China to create a better and cleaner future.

“Building on our ongoing achievements and shared vision for a prosperous future, our two countries are committed to diversifying our cooperation in many other areas, including climate change, food security, financial services, education and cultural exchange. More importantly , the UAE is always willing to expand the geographical scope of the partnership, and work with the entire Arab world and other like-minded countries to achieve a common vision – to promote the building of a community with a shared future for all mankind and common prosperity.”
