Christian Bale says he is a ‘mediator’ of nervous ‘American Hustle’.
He confirmed in the new issue of GQ that he has collaborated between co-stars in the 2013 crime thriller, actress Amy Adams, 48, and director David O Russell, 64.
Christian, 48, spoke after a leaked email from a Wikileaks hacker to Sony said David “abused” Amy to the point where the “Batman” actor intervened.
He said: “If I can get some idea of where it’s coming from, then I do tend to try to be a mediator.
“It’s just my nature to try to say, ‘Hey, come on, let’s sit down and fix this. There’s got to be a way to make this all work.”
Amy spoke of her “frustrated” being on the set of the film for “most” days on the project, and of David: “He was tough on me, that’s for sure. A lot.”
Christian’s efforts to defuse tensions came to light in 2015 after Wikileaks released hacked Sony emails.
Among them was a message from Sony’s then-CEO Jonathan Alter,
Who said David “grabbed someone by the collar, cursed someone repeatedly in front of them, and abused Amy Adams so much that Christian Bale told him to stop acting like a ** in his face”.
Although Christian says it’s in his nature to be a peacemaker, he went viral in 2009 when a leaked recording of him screamed “Terminator: Redemption” at a cinematographer while filming a scene .
Claiming he was distracted, Christian yelled at him: “Am I going to walk around and turn off your f****** lights? In the middle of the scene?
“Then why the fuck did you just go right through? ‘Oh, dah-dah, dah-dah’, like in the background. What the fuck are you?
“You’re ruining my scene! You’re doing it f****** again, and I wouldn’t be walking on this scene if you were still hired. I’m fucking serious.”
Christian later said he acted like a “punk” and said he had made up with the photographer.
