Cloudy weather and rain expected in parts of UAE today, says NCM

Dubai: Partly cloudy weather in the UAE, with temperatures gradually dropping, is the perfect start to the weekend. On Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a cloudy, rainy forecast for parts of the country.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, today’s weather is “generally cloudy, with possible convective clouds and rain in parts of the eastern coast and western islands”.

NCMs typically monitor convective clouds that form due to rising surface temperatures. They rise upward and look like cotton balls stacked on top of each other. NCM monitors these clouds as they move across the country and dispatches cloud-seeding flights to maximize rainfall across the country.

By the afternoon, scattered rain may hit parts of Fujairah, Al Ain and surrounding areas.

The temperature has also dropped today. The lowest temperature recorded across the country was 11°C at Mount Jais (Ras Al Khaimah) at 5.15am this morning.

Maximum temperatures will be between 27°C and 30°C across the country, except in the mountains where it will be cooler. Humidity is slightly higher in inland and coastal areas, around 70% to 85%.

“At times, light to moderate winds can become relatively strong, especially offshore, causing dust to be kicked up during the day,” the NCM added.

The NCM warned that beach trips are best avoided today, as seas in the Arabian Gulf are choppy and seas off Oman are breezy.
