Comcast launches Now TV, a $20-a-month streaming service with 40+ entertainment channels, FAST offerings and Peacock Premium – Deadline

Comcast is launching now tvA streaming The product targets what it calls “value-conscious consumers who want entertainment products.”

For $20 per month, the service includes more than 40 live channels, including select channels from the A&E, AMC, Hallmark and Warner Bros. Discovery portfolios, as well as from NBC, Sky and Xu Moxi.subscription Peacock Premiums are also included at no additional charge. TVs are now available to customers who pay for Comcast’s Xfinity-branded Internet service.

Comcast, a leading provider of broadband and cable TV, has been experimenting with various packages in recent years as video subscriber numbers continue to decline across the industry. Its Flex product, which is offered to Xfinity subscribers, bundles streaming channels for customers for free. A new joint venture with Charter Communications also aims to keep cord cutters in the fold.

Comcast Cable CEO Dave Watson unveiled the new service at an investor conference hosted by Wall Street firm JP Morgan, which is unique in that it combines linear TV, FAST and subscription VOD.inside Pay TV market, it’s most similar to Philo TV. Channels available when Now TV launches the service in the coming weeks include: A&E, Afro, AMC, Animal Planet, BBC America, BBC News, Comedy.TV, Cooking, Crime + Investigation,
Discovery, Discovery Life, Food Network, FYI, Great American Family, Great American Life, Get TV, Game Show Network, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HGTV, The
History Channel, Investigative Discovery, IFC, Justice Center, Lifetime, Lifetime Film Network,
Magnolia Network, Military History, MotorTrend Network, OWN, Pursuit, Recipe.TV, Science Channel,
Sony Movies, Sundance TV, TLC, Travel Channel, Vice, WEtv and The Weather Channel.

Access to the TV is now available through the Xfinity Stream app, including 20 hours of DVR and access to three concurrent streams.

On the other side of Comcast, Sky has been operating its own internet service called Now TV since 2012. It differs from the US service in that it has several tiers, including a premium tier with sports programming. Comcast acquired majority control of Sky in 2018 after launching a bidding war with Disney.
