The steaks at SLS Dubai are very high-end…
We have never experienced a steakhouse as full of personality as Carna. When we arrived, the atmosphere was full of excitement. When we felt comfortable in the half booth under the huge olive tree, the DJ had already begun to play some optimistic house classics.
Under the care of the famous butcher Dario Cecchini, Carna Dubai offers more than just steaks at its SLS venue. The location on the 74th floor offers incredible city views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Low-key chandeliers hung throughout the restaurant, reflecting light from the huge steak mural hanging on the back wall.
We start with the classic shrimp cocktail (Dhs120). Served on crushed ice, the marinated prawns arrive with their tails and sleep with fresh vegetables and spicy tomato feta sauce. We drenched lemons on our bodies and gobbled them down.
We also tried Dario’s signature steak tartare (AED 82), which was tempted by truffle aioli. It is a small toast prepared for us, and the garlic flavor is as delicious as we hoped. The taste is balanced, rich and crunchy.
Before our steak arrived, we were asked to choose our “weapons”. This request may seem obscure, but when we proudly pretend to know the difference between each steak knife, we open a beautiful box containing a series of steak knives.
To be honest, we don’t even need a sharp knife to cut Hokkaido beef tenderloin (120 g 375 dirhams), because Japanese A5 meat slides like butter. It is rich and delicious, with crispy grilled sides. Each slice of beef is a sensory treat.
Although Japanese beef is an ideal choice for meat connoisseurs, for those of us who like more traditional steaks, the New York Striped Steak Marble Rating 7 (300 grams 360 Dhs) is perfect. The meat is fed with grains for 450 days and tastes great when sprinkled with coarse salt. We asked it to be medium rare, with a perfect pink inside and a delicious layer of fat on the edges.
Although the restaurant was full of voices, the staff were more than happy to stop to chat and make suggestions. It is these little real moments that make the restaurant truly great.
Grilled Alaska (Dhs60) was our last dish of the evening, it was beautiful. A large pile of ice cream, wrapped in burning mallow, placed on the refreshing blueberry sorbet. You can definitely share it with the dining table, or if you feel brave, please do it yourself.
