Consumer retail spending during the summer shopping and dining season in Abu Dhabi increases by 56%

This year’s Abu Dhabi summer shopping and dining season lasted 10 weeks from June 17 to August 31, and was able to resist the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by recording a significant increase in retail spending.

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) industry promoters, Retail Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Culinary, the use of Visa cards for summer activities achieved a record 56% year-on-year in 24 shopping malls Growth and 4,000 stores, according to Visa, a global digital payment leader and strategic partner for the shopping and dining season in Abu Dhabi.

Highlights of Summer of Style include a stylist program featuring global trendsetters Anna Dello Russo and Anya Ziourova; a fashion dinner with music icon Rita Ora; summer courses, a full week of home styling and fashion workshops; and a series of luxury brands Exclusive works of, including Burberry, Dior, Fendi, etc.

Ice Cream Summer includes the region’s first ice cream laboratory pop-up store opened in Yas Mall, where “the most variety of ice cream on display” broke the Guinness World Record.
