Coolio’s girlfriend “realizes” he’s dating other women.
The “Gangasta’s Paradise” rapper – who died on Wednesday (28.09.22) after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 59 – was in a 10-year relationship with Mimi Ivey at the time of his death, and she now claims the pair “have no secrets.”
She said: “He was who he was. If he saw other women, I would know. That man never did anything he hid from me. We talked about everything. I knew his whole life. We had no secrets.”
The exotic dancer went on to add that while she and Coolio — whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. — were not legally married, she still used his last name and decided not to organize a funeral to honor his wishes.
she told daily mail“I respect his wishes. He wants to be cremated. He doesn’t want a funeral. He doesn’t want a memorial service. He doesn’t want that.”
Meanwhile, Mimi, who has two children, added that she “collapsed” on her knees in shock when she found out Coolio was dead.
“I just remember all the air and life in my body,” she said. “I was out and about to take my son to football practice. I just remember being on my knees. I fell.”
The Grammy winner – survived by his children Jackie, Brandi, Artisa, Artis, Gertis, Milan, Darius, Zanelan and twins Shane and Kate from different relationships Down – found “unresponsive” by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Returning home around 4pm on Wednesday (28.09.22), he was “declared dead” later in the day, although they tried to revive him for almost an hour.
In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, emergency services said: “The LAFD arrived four minutes after dispatch and found a male approximately 60 years old unresponsive and they performed resuscitation efforts as per protocol for approximately 45 minutes. Base hospital physicians were consulted, and the patient was pronounced dead by 5:00 p.m. PT. The LAFD cleared the scene, which is supervised by the LAPD awaiting the coroner.”
