According to reports, Cory Shields, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide media and entertainment, has resigned.
Shields, who joined in 2020, oversees promotions for Amazon’s original films and series, working closely with Prime Video and Mike Hopkins, senior vice president of Amazon Studios.

type Amazon has not revealed a replacement for Shields, it is understood.
Prior to his role at Amazon, Shields worked at NBCUniversal for about 20 years, during which time he held various key positions during two periods. Shields’ first tenure at NBC began in 1997 and ended in 2004 as senior vice president of corporate communications. He then held the same role at Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
After returning to NBC, Shields served as executive vice president of communications for NBCUniversal, then as executive vice president of global policy strategy and alliances, working with the anti-piracy team. From 2011 to 2020, Shields served as Executive Vice President of Communications for NBCU Cable Entertainment.

As Global General Manager, he will report to Chris Brearton, Vice President of Corporate Strategy, Prime Video Studios, and will work alongside Michael Wright, Head of MGM+, Laura Sher, Head of MGM+ Business Operations, and Peter Lops, Head of Finance, MGM+. Based in Seattle, he will oversee the US and international MGM+ business and its continued expansion, directing long-term strategic planning, profit and loss management, distribution strategy, operations and commercial transactions.
