Covid-19: India allows domestic airlines to fly at full capacity-News

[ad_1]

The order of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to allow 100% capacity utilization will take effect on October 18.

As a prelude to the full reopening of international air travel in and out of India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has allowed airlines to fly at full capacity on domestic routes.

During the second wave of Covid-19 infection peak, India restricted domestic flights to operate at 50% capacity in June, but as the infection rate declined in the following months, seat utilization gradually increased.

The ministry’s order to allow 100% capacity utilization will take effect on October 18th, which coincides with India’s festive season. The Ministry has repeatedly cited the unavailability of seats on domestic flights as one of the reasons for not resuming regular international flights into India.

There are reasons for this. Passengers arriving at an international airport from abroad will be stranded without sufficient domestic connections. International flights to and from India were suspended in March last year, when India imposed a total blockade to contain the initial outbreak of the pandemic.

Instead, there are temporary “bubble” arrangements with more than 20 countries, waiting for normal flights to resume.

The ministry said in today’s order: “However, airlines/airport operators should ensure strict compliance with the guidelines for curbing the spread of Covid-19 and strictly enforce Covid-related behaviors.”

Last week, India announced a Reinstate tourist visas in stages For foreigners. Those who arrive by chartered flights will get tourist visas from October 15th, and those who arrive by non-chartered flights will get tourist visas from November 15th.

It is expected that this decision of the Ministry of the Interior will also pave the way for the resumption of scheduled flights and the increase of seat usage on domestic flights.
