Covid-19: Qantas plans to restart flights because Australia will allow free travel-News

[ad_1]

Qantas on Friday proposed a plan to restart international travel from Sydney, as Prime Minister Scott Morrison predicted that tourists will be welcomed back to Australia this year.

Australian permanent residents and citizens who are vaccinated will be Free shuttle to Sydney From November 1st, no hotel quarantine is required when returning.

Two weeks ago, Morrison said that Australians, skilled immigrants and students will come to Sydney in preference to foreign tourists. He predicted Tourists will return in 2022 or later.

However, although tourists will retain their low priority, Morrison now expects them to return this year.

Morrison said: “Before the end of this year, this is very possible, and very likely to be achieved.”

Sydney-based Qantas announced that it has provided services to Thailand, Singapore, South Africa and Fiji weeks or months in advance. The New Delhi route will start operations in December, and this is the first route to India in nearly a decade.

A statement from Qantas stated that the New South Wales Government’s decision to cancel the isolation requirements for passengers vaccinated in Sydney has greatly increased travel demand.

The 22,000 employees employed by Qantas and its budget subsidiary Jetstar will return to work in December, six months ahead of schedule.

The rapid spread of vaccines in New South Wales has driven these changes. By Friday, 83% of the population of 16 years and older had received the vaccine, and nearly 93% had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Only the capital, Canberra, has a higher proportion of the vaccinated population.

Due to supply issues and the public’s distrust of locally produced AstraZeneca, Australia has one of the lowest vaccination rates among all wealthy countries. It is now one of the top suppliers, partly because of supply deals with the UK, Poland and Singapore.

Melbourne is the most populous city in Australia after Sydney. After Victoria reached the benchmark of 70% of the target population being fully vaccinated, the 77-day lockdown ended on Friday.

Although Victoria recorded the deadliest day of the delta mutation outbreak, 16 people died of Covid-19, but the pandemic restrictions were relaxed. In the last 24 hours, 2,189 new infections were also detected.

“It’s fair to say that Victorians have done an amazing thing. So many people get vaccinated so quickly,” Victoria Governor Daniel Andrews said.

“We have always said that the blockade is because there is no vaccine we need, but if we are vaccinated, we will have more choices,” he added.

Sydney, where the delta outbreak broke out in June, lifted the lockdown last week after reaching the same 70% vaccination benchmark.

New South Wales reported 5 Covid-19 deaths and 345 new infections on Friday.
