Covid-19: The UAE and India will enter the British Amber List on August 8-News

[ad_1]

Britain lifted travel bans on the UAE, India, Bahrain and Qatar.

The Boris Johnson government moved the UAE, India, Bahrain, and Qatar from the list of “red” countries where travel is prohibited to the “amber” list on Wednesday night. This means that travelers from these countries will be allowed to travel to the UK from Sunday (August 8th) start.

Officials said the decision was made after the Covid-19 situation in these countries has improved in recent weeks and months.

All changes will take effect from 4 AM on Sunday.

Passengers need to take a Covid-19 test three days before the trip, book and pay for the test after arriving in England, and fill in the passenger location form.

After arriving in the UK, travelers need to be isolated at home or where they will stay for 10 days, and tested on or before the second day and on or after the eighth day after arrival.

An official statement said: “The data of all countries will be reviewed, and the government will not hesitate to take action when the epidemiological situation in a country changes.”

British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps (Grant Shapps) said: “We are committed to open international travel safely and use the results of our successful vaccination program to help connect family, friends and businesses around the world.”

He added: “Although we must continue to be cautious, today’s changes have reopened a series of different resorts around the world, which is good news for the industry and the tourist public.”

The British government also announced that passengers arriving in the UK from France will no longer need to be quarantined if they have been vaccinated. The official added that Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania and Norway will be added to the government’s green list, indicating that they pose a low risk to British public health.

British Health Minister Sajid Javid said: “As we learn to coexist with this virus, we will continue to take measures to safely reopen international travel based on the latest data and expert public health recommendations.”

He added: “These vaccines have prevented approximately 60,000 deaths and 22 million infections in England, and now more than 7 out of every 10 adults in the UK have suffered a double blow, and we are building a wall against this disease. .”

After evaluating the latest data, Georgia, Reunion, Mayotte, and Mexico will be added to the red list because of their known concerns about the UK, known high-risk variants or actions that are under investigation The result of the very high prevalence of Covid-19 in the country or region.

Since February, the law requires anyone arriving in the UK from a “red” country to book for 10 days in a managed isolation facility. In order to ensure that taxpayers will not subsidize the cost of living in these facilities, these costs have increased, and the cost will increase starting from Thursday (August 12).

The statement added that starting from August 12, the price of quarantine for single adult passengers will increase from £1,750 (Dh8,290) to £2,285 (Dh11,660), and the price of quarantine for the second adult will be increased from £1,430 ( 7,297 dirhams) increase.
