Covid-19: US relaxes travel advice to India and Pakistan-News

[ad_1]

The State Department’s recommendations for improved travel are recognition of the pandemic in the region.

The United States has improved its travel advice for India, reducing it from the highest level 4 (that is, travel ban) to level 3, which urges citizens to reconsider traveling. It also lowered Pakistan’s travel advice from level 4 to level 3.

The State Department on Monday improved its travel advice to India and Pakistan, which is an acknowledgement of the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the region.

The US State Department said on Monday that due to Covid-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice to India, indicating that the country has a high level of Covid-19.

“If you are fully vaccinated with FDA-authorized vaccines, your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be reduced. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC’s specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers ,”it says.

“Due to Covid-19, reconsider travel to India. Due to crime and terrorism, please be more cautious,” it said.

The latest travel warning replaces the warning issued on May 5 that placed India in a level 4 category. When last month’s consultation was released, India was battling a second wave of pandemics, with more than 300,000 new coronavirus cases reported every day. The hospital was faltering due to the shortage of medical oxygen and beds.

Although the CDC issued a Level 2 Travel Health Notice to Pakistan due to Covid-19, indicating that the epidemic is at a moderate level, the State Department maintains the risk of US citizens traveling to the country due to terrorism at Level 3.

“Due to terrorism and sectarian violence, reconsidering travel to Pakistan. Due to COVID-19, more caution in Pakistan. Risks have increased in some areas. Read the entire travel advisory,” the State Department said.
