Covid: Singapore will expand its no-quarantine program for vaccinated travelers from October 19th-News

[ad_1]

Starting Tuesday, vaccinated travelers from eight countries/regions can enter Singapore without quarantining because the commercial center has eased restrictions and is prepared to deal with the coronavirus.

The city-state initially combated the pandemic by closing borders, as well as various intensities of blockades and active contact tracing. But with more than 80% of the population being vaccinated, the authorities in the global aviation hub are eager to revive the economy.

They opened a travel route for vaccinated passengers from Brunei and Germany in September, and will expand the program to eight other countries from Tuesday-namely, the United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and America.

The match against South Korea will start on November 15.

According to this policy, if a passenger is fully vaccinated before departure and on arrival and the coronavirus test is negative, there is no need to quarantine.

When Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced a series of measures under the “coexistence with Covid-19” strategy on October 9, he said: “Singapore cannot maintain a lockdown and close indefinitely.”

Lee pointed out that the Delta coronavirus variant is a factor.

“Variants of Delta are highly contagious and have spread all over the world. Even if everyone is vaccinated, we still cannot eliminate it,” he said.

“Almost every country has accepted this reality.”

In addition to focusing on home care for mild and asymptomatic domestic cases, Li also said that Singapore needs to resume international travel.

This city-state is home to the regional offices of thousands of multinational companies that rely on Singapore’s status as a commercial and aviation hub to conduct business.

“We must continue to reopen the border safely,” Li said. “Companies and investors need to conduct regional and global operations in Singapore. People who work for them need to travel to earn a living.”

The success of this city-state vaccination channel project may promote the recovery of the global aviation industry hit by the pandemic.

Philip Goh, vice president of IATA Asia Pacific, said: “We hope that the positive actions taken by Singapore will stimulate other markets to pave the way for the restart of air travel in the same way.”
