Crew shortage affects Air India services to Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar

[ad_1]

New Delhi: Air India has temporarily reduced flight frequency to Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar to address crew and aircraft shortages.

According to a report by MoneyControl, the airline canceled flights between Delhi and Muscat, Delhi and Dubai, and Delhi and Abu Dhabi once a week from the last week of April to the end of May.

“Air India and Air India Express are tweaking their network, resulting in the cancellation of several Air India flights,” an Air India official told MoneyControl. Another official said the airline’s decision to cut flights to the West Asian country was part of the airline’s restructuring of its network to make the most of its fleet.

“Airline India will cut flights to the Middle East after Eid, as traffic in these countries drops sharply after the Eid holiday, while domestic summer traffic in India will increase due to school holidays,” he added, taking Air India has also temporarily increased its flight frequency between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April to benefit from Eid-Eid traffic.

The first official also noted that some flights between India and the West Asian country will be affected in the coming months as Air India and AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) adjust their networks.

Air India has struggled with pilot and aircraft shortages over the past six months as it struggles to grow under new owner Tata Group and expand its global presence, the report said.
