Cruise ship passengers and crew without Alhosn green passes

[ad_1]

Effective immediately…

A notification issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT – Abu Dhabi) to “General Managers of Hotels and Tourism Agencies, Event Organisers and Venue Owners, Museums, Cultural and Leisure Sites” confirms that visitors entering Abu Dhabi are from Dhabi on temporarily docked cruise ships will no longer be required to present the Alhosn Green Pass to enter “tourist attractions and venues” in the emirate.

To enter these locations, they just need to show their cruise card or wristband.

Changes to Green Pass

The update to the mask-wearing policy inside the UAE was the biggest headline in the recent NCEMA Pandemic Safety Policy Announcement, but also made some huge concessions to the Alhosn Green Pass – on top of that, fully vaccinated people can get 30 days Green passes the back of a negative PCR, and those partially or unvaccinated can now get a 7-day pass.

Cruise ships were among the first forms of travel restricted in Abu Dhabi during the pandemic. They were also one of the first countries to institute strict policies in ensuring public safety, reintroducing public transport tourism channels. Based on this, it is possible to view Abu Dhabi’s cruise industry as an indicator of overall policy change, or at least a good test of current administrative winds.

Could we see the end of the green pass system for the rest of us anytime soon?

Only time will tell. With the number of events taking place in Q4 2022 and Q1 2023, recent easing of restrictions and continued commitment to bring tourists back to Abu Dhabi, the trajectory of policy change appears to be moving towards a full rollback of all measures. One thing we can be sure of is that changes will only be made when it is completely safe.
