Cyclone Shaheen: Distance education in some UAE schools will continue until Monday-News

[ad_1]

UAE authorities confirmed on Saturday night that distance education in some UAE schools will continue until Monday due to tropical cyclone Shaheen is expected to affect the country’s weather conditions.

The Dubai Supreme Council for Crisis and Disaster Management stated that all educational institutions will operate as usual except for the public schools in Hatta, where distance learning will take place on Sundays and Mondays.

The Dubai Media Office wrote on Twitter: “Tomorrow, Sunday, October 3, various government and private entities will operate as usual. The committee will continue to follow up the developments related to Tropical Storm Sahin and take the following appropriate measures. “

In addition, Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) announced that private schools and nurseries in the eastern part of the emirate, including Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Deba Al-Hisn cities, will switch to online education on Sunday and Monday.

“SPEA will continue to closely monitor the situation with the competent authorities and take necessary actions in this regard,” it said in a statement.

Since the school closed in March 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, almost all students in private schools in Dubai will return to school on Sunday, October 3 for the first time.

Last week, the UAE’s private education regulator, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), stated that since the start of the latest school year in September, 75% of Dubai students have returned to school, up from 50% in the previous school year.

KHDA stated that only a few categories of students can be exempt from school learning.

If students have a high-risk or chronic disease, they must have a medical report from the Dubai Department of Health; secondly, if they live with someone who has a high-risk disease and cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons. Third-if they are outside the UAE and cannot return due to international Covid-19 restrictions.

The heads of schools in Dubai told Khaliji Times They are all ready to welcome students back to campus. In order to allay parents’ concerns about resuming face-to-face learning, the school has been holding regular workshops to solve safety issues and build confidence.

Karim Murcia, principal and CEO of GEMS Al Barsha National School, said that regular seminars ensure that the school can address parents’ concerns. He said: “Teachers and parents also communicate frequently to ensure that the learning and review skills developed by the school are supported at home.”
