D3 and Arab Fashion Council launch Dubai Fashion Week


Dubai Design District (d3), a member of the Tecom Group, and the Arab Fashion Council (AFC) have launched the official Dubai Fashion Week, scheduled for 10-15 March.

Dubai Fashion Week will be the region’s emerging definitive fashion event for menswear, womenswear, ready-to-wear and fashion collections. It underscores Tecom Group’s commitment to solidify Dubai as a global creative capital and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for business growth and investment.

Arranging fashion shows according to the global fashion calendar, Dubai Fashion Week will provide emerging and established designers with an international platform to develop their brands. Regional designers will not only be able to meet and conduct business with international buyers and distributors, but will also serve as a gateway for international talent and brands to continue expanding their global footprint through regional markets.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President, Dubai Design District (d3), which is part of the Tecom Group, said: “What used to be Paris, Milan, London and New York is now Dubai. Taking its place in the world, fashion is one of the industries that has elevated its status.

“All eyes are on fashion and creativity in the Middle East and the sky is the limit now. Dubai has the vision, ambition and innovation to elevate the global creative reach and impact. Our growing partnership with the Arab Fashion Council will strengthen our partnership with network of international and regional partners and promote the industry’s contribution to the creative economy.”

The fashion industry in our region is entering a new era. chapter as we become an increasingly active contributor to the global fashion narrative.

“The Arab Fashion Council is proud to amplify this voice and launch Dubai Fashion Week, the official industry platform, in partnership with d3 and Tecom Group. Dubai Fashion Week showcases Dubai as a global creative hub that will boost fashion exports and attract world-class investment.”

Expanding Dubai’s creative reach
Dubai Fashion Week aims to strengthen Dubai’s influence on the global creative scene under its Dubai pillars: diversity; unity; commerce; ambition; innovation, to further empower the development of the fashion industry value chain.

Ahead of Dubai Fashion Week, the official calendar will enable brands, designers and industry players to launch their own program of fashion shows, presentations, exhibitions, pop-up stores, special celebrations and workshops at d3 and across Dubai. More details on the first edition will be announced closer to the date.

Dubai Fashion Week builds on the many milestones of Arab Fashion Week, which spanned 7 years and 21 editions, including:

• Showcasing hundreds of different creative designers from over 50 countries
• Since its establishment, it has attracted industry icons from all over the world and more than 250,000 fashion lovers and international fashion media
• Collaboration with a range of prestigious international partners, including Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (the French agency that coordinates Paris Fashion Week), offering new opportunities to exchange talent across both calendars
• Launch of first menswear fashion week in Asia, Middle East and Africa
• Launched a diversity program and appointed the region’s first curvy model to the catwalk. – trade arab news agency
