David F. Sandberg denies claim that ‘Shazam’ is being re-shot! Wrath of the Gods”.
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movie has been pushed back to March 2023, but David confirmed the shift has nothing to do with post-production changes for the blockbuster.
Answering questions from fans on Instagram, David said: “I saw reports that ‘Shazam’ was ‘regrouping’, but that’s not the case. The clips have been locked for a long time, we’re doing final mixes, colors and special effects right away.
“Everyone is happy with the film, and we’re not going to be working longer hours because of a change in release date.
“They thought Aquaman’s previous date was better for us, and that’s why we moved.”
Sandberg concluded: “Certainly not overvoting.”
In the sequel, Zachary Levi will reprise the lead role, while Lady Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu will play the villains Hespera and Calypso, respectively — beyond the director’s wildest dreams.
David, 41, said: “I mean, first of all, it’s a dream come true. I’ve been watching movies with Lucy and Helen and now I can work with them – it’s amazing.
“They’re the best. When we have those parts, we’re like, ‘Let’s get the biggest and best actresses we can get.’ We can do it because they say yes. It’s amazing. “
This movie is the sequel to the 2019 movie Shazam! Sandberg explained that there is no doubt about the second film.
He said: “The first movie just came out and we were already meeting about what a sequel would be and trying to figure that out. I don’t think there ever was a point where, oh, could it be a sequel?”
