Day of Remembrance: UAE remembers those who sacrificed for the country

This day – 30th November – holds great significance in the UAE. It is a milestone in the history of the nation, and it marks the sacrifice of our martyrs.

Across the country and its beautiful landscapes – from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah and everywhere in between – Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah – people come together Come together to honor the strength and resilience of those who gave their lives to uphold dual values ​​and maintain the safety, security and stability of this nation.

The late President Sheikh Khalifa introduced the Day of Remembrance in 2015, but it dates back to November 30 to commemorate Salem Suhail bin Khamis Al Dahmani, the UAE’s first martyr. Bin Khamis Al Dahmani, who died on the same day in 1971 as Tatunb in battle on the island.

Since then, many Emiratis have sacrificed their lives for the country. Their devotion to the country and bravery in overcoming difficulties will forever be etched in the annals of UAE history.

November 30th is the official date we honor those brave men and what they have done for this country.

Their deaths sent a message – while their martyrdom was to keep the flag flying high and strengthen the national identity, all of us who call the UAE home must work for the betterment of the country.

Their sacrifice is also a message to tomorrow’s generations as they move toward a bright future filled with hope and optimism: Nation First.

This spirit was best expressed in the words of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. While paying tribute to Emirati soldiers, he noted that their sacrifice in the line of duty will remain a “source of pride” for the UAE.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed pledged that the UAE leadership will continue to support the loved ones of those who died defending the country.

“We assure our honorable martyrs that their sacrifices will be immortalized in the memory of generations and be a source of pride,” Sheikh Mohammed noted.
