[ad_1]

The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a new AED360 million (US$98 million) Abu Dhabi Culinary Investment Fund, which will help bring leading brands to the UAE capital over five years.

Additionally, the fund will support the construction and establishment of a culinary school to aid in recruitment, training and other human resources for the industry. The school will deliver an established core curriculum and introduce two new degree programs focusing on ocean sustainability and food security.

The newly launched Abu Dhabi Gastronomy Investment Fund (ADCIF) aims to encourage world-class gourmet brands to enter the UAE and will enter the market and Abu Dhabi as their new home.

Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director, DCT Abu Dhabi Tourism, said: “The Abu Dhabi Gastronomy Investment Fund is part of our ongoing commitment to elevating the culinary scene and creating new dining experiences across the emirate. There has never been a better time and place to bring Leading chef, restaurant and hotel brands are brought to the capital.

“This fund, combined with the culinary school, will ensure that Abu Dhabi attracts more tourists from around the world, who can experience an increasingly diverse and high-quality dining experience in the emirate, centered on our heritage of Emirati hospitality.”

Key prerequisites for successful grant applicants are a brand or chef recognized by leading awards committees and global culinary guides and having a multi-regional presence – operating in multiple countries. Applicants should offer a premium leisure, lifestyle or gastronomic experience, but do not yet have an established presence in the region, and will make their debut in Abu Dhabi – with a one-year exclusivity in the emirate.

Abu Dhabi’s dining scene also recently welcomed a Michelin team, launching the first-ever Michelin Guide Abu Dhabi. The guide details 42 restaurants in Abu Dhabi, three of which have been awarded one Michelin star for their high-quality cooking, and four have been awarded Bib Gourmand for culinary excellence and value. In addition, the MENA 50 Best Restaurants 2023 (Regional Food Awards Ranking) returns to Abu Dhabi in 2023, following its success in 2022.
