Death toll reported after Israeli air strikes in Syria’s Homs province | Conflict News

[ad_1]

According to reports, a Syrian soldier and three pro-Iranian fighters were killed in the attack east of Palmyra, and seven others were injured.

A war monitor based in the United Kingdom said that an Israeli airstrike in central Syria killed a Syrian soldier and three pro-Iranian fighters.

The Syrian state news agency SANA earlier quoted military sources as saying that the attack on Wednesday near Palmyra in Homs province killed one soldier and wounded three others.

“At approximately 23:34 (20:34 GMT), the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression against the Palmyra area… The target was a communications tower and several positions nearby,” the source told SANA .

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the United Kingdom, said the target of the attack was several Iranian positions, including the communications tower near the T4 air base east of Palmyra.

The observatory said that Israeli fighter jets flew over the Iraq-Syria-Jordan border triangle during the attack.

According to reports, the attack killed a Syrian soldier and three pro-Iranian fighters, but their nationalities are not yet known.

According to the Observatory, the Syrian air defense system intercepted several other Israeli missiles.

Seven other people were injured, including three Syrian soldiers.

A few days ago, Syrian official media reported that the Syrian air defense system intercepted an Israeli missile attack over the village of Homs, injuring six Syrian soldiers and causing some material damage.

The Observatory reported that two pro-Iranian foreign fighters were killed in the attack.

SANA said that six soldiers were injured in the incident.

Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Israel has frequently carried out air strikes in Syria, mainly targeting Syrian government forces, as well as Iranian and Lebanese Hezbollah forces allied with the Damascus regime.

The Israeli army rarely admits individual strikes, but has repeatedly stated that it will not allow Syria to become a stronghold for its arch-enemy Iran.
