Defending champion Deccan Gladiators have retained five seasoned players from Abu Dhabi T10 Season 5 for Season 6, which will run from 23 November to 4 December 2022.
West Indian all-rounders Andre Russell and Odin Smith, along with British cricketer Tom Kohler-Cadmore, UAE-Pakistan cricketer Zahul Khan and Namibian all-rounder David Weiss, All are expected to take a place in the big list.
A star campaigner across the format, Andre Russell went on a staggering 90-game unbeaten run in 32 games for the Deccan Gladiators in his 5th season final against the Derry Bulls. He is backed by Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who is unbeaten in 59 of 28 games as the season’s highest partner and highest overall scorer (159/0). Kohler-Cadmore had the highest batting average last season at 200. They are also expected to continue their strong partnership this year.
The Odean Smith-David Weise duo led the team to the final with a 62-24 win over the Derry Bulls in their penultimate game last year. The Jamaican all-rounder can reach a top speed of 140km/h and is the wicketkeeper for 11 wickets in the team’s coveted 12 games. Weise, on the other hand, is known for its overall performance in securing clinical wins across formats.
Hometown lad Zahur Khan will lead the team’s bowling lineup, causing trouble for opposing batsmen with his toe-crusher and deceiving slower passes.
The Deccan Gladiators aim to continue their winning streak with new enthusiasm and a revitalized squad. Drafts in the 10+ format format lasting more than 90 minutes will be held on September 26, 2022.
Commenting on the five players’ reservations, Deccan Gladiators boss Gaurav Grover said: “We are very excited to have Andre, Khloe Cadmore, Zahur, Odin and Wieser in the team for a season. The Deccan Gladiators basked in the glory of their maiden title last season and the goal this season is to build a stronger and more powerful squad. The sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 will be held at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Eight teams compete in the world’s only 10-man cricket tournament, which is sanctioned by the International Cricket Council and licensed by the Emirates Cricket Council for ten years. Since its launch in 2017, the event has become very popular among cricket fans.
