Deira Clock Tower: How the latest technology keeps Dubai’s 58-year-old landmark ticking-News

[ad_1]

The timepiece is managed by the leading watch brand Omega.

It is probably the oldest landmark in Dubai, but the Deira Clock Tower uses the latest technology. It uses a high-tech dial, and the internal machine is equipped with a GPS sensor.

The machine’s sensors ensure extremely high accuracy, and the time can be changed without manual operation.

The timepiece is managed by the leading watch brand Omega.

The brand has been the clock tower’s timekeeper since 2010.

Time travel to nostalgia

The Deira Clock Tower is the first internationally renowned building in Dubai and has a history of 58 years.

Atiq Ahmed, a Pakistani expat who came to Dubai in the 1970s, said that every time he sees this clock tower, he feels like he has gone back in time. “This tower symbolizes the rapid transformation of Dubai into the best city in the world, and we have witnessed this.”

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, when the Dubai skyline was not dotted with skyscrapers, the clock tower could be seen from a distance.

“Just like the Burj Khalifa can be seen from anywhere in Dubai now, it was the clock tower at that time,” he said.

The tower was built in 1963 to celebrate the emirate’s first oil export and has become a major landmark of the city. The arches of the tower are connected together to fix the clock in the center. A fountain is set at the bottom of the building.

It is said that the clock in the center of the concrete structure was a gift to the late ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid bin Said Al Maktoum.

Before the completion of the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway, this huge clock was the first junction of the main route to Dubai.

Before the construction of the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway, the clock tower was built on the route to Dubai. It is the gateway to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. And as the link between Deira and Bur Dubai.

This tower is not only a reliable timekeeper, but also helps traffic at Dubai’s most famous intersection.

Picnic place

Another long-time expatriate, Mohammed Adam, said that the sandy riverbed of Dubai Creek is a place for family visits at night.

“The structure can be seen from Dubai Creek. The clock tower has always been a visual treat, attracting people from all over the UAE as a must-visit place.”
