Newark New Years Furry Ball
There’s a bunch of cosplayers who love furry costumes. These people were nicknamed “furries”.
The furry culture has a strong following and there are furry conventions in the state and around the world. So it only makes sense for fur lovers to ring in the new year together, and that’s where the family-friendly New Year’s Furry Ball comes in.
The event is essentially a conference, with a games room, dealer’s den (with art and other items), dinner buffet, ball drops and other fun.
NYFB is hosted by the Furst State Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Delaware’s furry community. The first NYFB began in 2005, according to its website.

Confetti Countdown in Wilmington
When the ball is dropped at night, some kids are busy sleeping.
The Delaware Children’s Museum knows this and has created an annual tradition that allows young ones to time travel into the New Year a few hours before dinner.
Featuring a confetti countdown, the celebration will take place four times (11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm). There will also be a puppet meet and greet and a live performance by We Kids Rock!

The 11th annual Dewey Dunk fundraiser will feature a DJ, hot chocolate, Bloody Marys, mimosas and bonfires.
