Denmark leads global increase in hydrogen pipeline length

For hydrogen pipeline projects planned and announced between 2022 and 2026, Denmark is expected to lead the way in global length gain, contributing around 35%, leading data and analytics firm GlobalData found.

GlobalData’s latest report “Hydrogen pipeline length and capital expenditure (CapEx) forecast by region, country and company, including details of new and expansion (planned and announced) projects for 2022-2026”, shows that Denmark will have total hydrogen Through the announced projects, the pipeline length will reach 800 kilometers by 2026.

GlobalData Oil and Gas Analyst Himani Pant Pandey commented: “Holstebro-Hamburg is Denmark’s largest upcoming hydrogen pipeline project, with a total length of 450 kilometers. The pipeline is expected to start operations in 2025 and is designed to connect offshore wind farms in Denmark from Supply green hydrogen to Germany to meet local industrial needs.”

The Netherlands comes second

The Netherlands ranks second globally in increasing hydrogen pipeline lengths, with 545 kilometers of pipelines announced by 2026. Groningen-Alkmaar-Yala is the longest hydrogen pipeline project to be built between 2022 and 2026, with a proposed length of 308 kilometers.

Pandey added: “Italy ranks third globally with a planned 440km hydrogen pipeline by 2026. Snam Hydrogen is the longest pipeline to be built in the country and is scheduled to start operating in 2026. The pipeline is expected to increase hydrogen consumption country.” – arab trade news agency
