Derby Folk Festival turns the city into a live entertainment hub

Dance performance at Derby Folk Festival Fringe

There will be plenty of live entertainment on the streets of Derby

The 16th annual Derby Folk Festival returns this weekend, and the Fringe show has now been announced.

With people flocking to the Derby Folk Festival from across the UK, we are delighted to announce a fringe programme supported by our partner venues Old Bell Hotel, Quartet, making museum and Cathedral Quarter. The program consists mainly of free activities, except those that can be accessed through Fringe Supporters Saturday Ticketswith shows and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Fringe festivities kick off with a music festival at the Old Bell Hotel Tudor bar from 6.30pm Friday, September 30. The Tudor Bar is free to enter and has a friendly atmosphere, warm fires and lots of live music. Audiences are welcome to sit and listen or bring their instruments to participate.These meetings will also be Saturday 1 October Between 11am and 2pm Sunday 2 October Between 11 am and 1 pm. Andy Martin Sessions will be led during these times, but you are free to continue playing anytime!

Saturday 1 October Then enjoy a selection of acoustic music in the QUAD Café area Christine Redfern, Deborah Short and John Adams, Mark Bullock, old sea legs, Annette Oaks and Winter WilsonElsewhere, the Cathedral District will host various dance parties at the Falls near the market, Cathedral Green, Sadler’s Gate, and the Corn Market. These dance teams include After dinner clogs, Markney Morris, disturbed soles and black pig. At 1:30 pm, there will be a pop-up at the falls.

Or, from last year, the fringe event at The Old Bell Hotel Ballroom on Saturday will be charging a very low £5 ticket called Fringe supporters Saturday tickets. This will help support the ever-expanding Fringe festival, and ticket money will be used to pay for the event. Tickets will be exchanged for wristbands, allowing spectators to attend the event all day Saturday in the Old Bell Hotel Ballroom.Performance in the Ballroom of the Old Bell Hotel by Abbrevien, Darren Clarkston, Karin, franklin and featherstone, 5 outside the mountains and Steve and Julie Wigley. There will also be a free-to-view songwriting competition starting at 6 p.m. Julie Wigley and Jez Lowe.

The last day of the fringe show, Sunday 2 October, will be hosting three highly anticipated events at the Museum of Manufacturing at 10:30 a.m. for you to attend.these are Hoverla Ukrainian OrchestraOne French/Brittany Bal-Session and Dave Wilson Studio. Elsewhere, Steve and Julie Wigley, Winter Wilson, Doug Enson and Sarah Matthews at QUAD’s Café and liberty hill, cut out the old and Heart of Oak Will be dancing in the cathedral area.

In addition to an impressive fringe programme, the main performances of the Derby Folk Festival will take place between the Meeker Peat Stage, the Old Bell Ballroom and Derby Cathedral.The headlines for this year’s festival are siren, spears and bodden and Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.
