Despite clashes, Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways searches for flight attendants in Russia and Ukraine

[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways is looking for new flight attendants in Moscow and Kyiv despite the devastating impact of President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Etihad Airways’ decision to expand its search for much-needed new cabin crew in Russia is another stark reminder that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has not imposed any sanctions on the Putin regime and is in some ways benefiting from European exclusion Russia’s decision.

While European countries and the United States and Canada closed their airspace to Russian jets, the UAE kept its borders open and joined India and China in abstaining from a UN resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The UAE has become a sanctuary for Russian oligarchs, and while the number of Russians visiting the popular Middle Eastern country has fallen since the conflict began, Abu Dhabi and Dubai remain popular holiday destinations for Russian holidaymakers with enough money to spare Travel abroad.

Unlike European airlines, airlines such as Etihad Airways and Emirates continued to fly to Russia throughout the conflict. Etihad Airways currently serves Moscow on a daily basis, and the airline prides itself on recruiting cabin crew from the countries they serve.

This was not the case in Ukraine, where Etihad did not serve the country before the war, but it is a good sign that the state-owned airline still has confidence in doing business in Ukraine.

Etihad is not the only company conducting headhunting in Moscow. Emirates is also looking for new cabin crew in the Russian capital, although that’s perhaps unsurprising given the airline’s crew of 160 nationalities.

It appears that Etihad and Emirates will not let the war derail their recruitment plans.
