The Downtown Concert Hall will host a Bounce House event on August 12 at 10pm at Miracle Strip Parkway SE 212 in Fort Walton Beach. DJ Chubby, $$$FreeMoney$$$ and Scoot Also will be part of an evening full of family vibes and grooves sure to get your feet moving and your heart beating! You have to be 18 to dance and 21 to drink. There is no insurance fee.
fight for victory
The Smash Bros. tournament will take place on August 12th at The Sound Cafe + Enlightened Studios, 142 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach, from 6-9pm. Come out and fight friends and strangers in epic events. The entry fee is $10, winner takes all.
Plant Sales
Jenny B’s Gardens will be hosting a multi-vendor plant sale on August 13th at 9am at 120 Patton Drive NE in Fort Walton Beach. Multiple sellers and growers will sell indoor and outdoor plants suitable for the local environment.
Craft and Sip
Crestview Public Library hosts coffee and craft classes every Saturday at 1445 Crestview Commerce Drive from 9 am to 11 am. Courses are free. All materials provided. Social distancing will be practiced. Donations are welcome. The next class is August 13th.
Board game rich
TBS Comics hosts monthly board game nights the following Saturday from 6-11pm at the 550 Mary Esther Cut-Off store in Fort Walton Beach, next on August 13th. This is a great opportunity to try new games and meet other board game lovers.
Karaoke fun
On August 13th, 20th and 27th, pool party karaoke continues at The Island Resort, 1500 Fort Walton Beach, Miracle Strip Parkway SE, from 6-10pm. Playground ham radio club piles up on Sunday
Dustin Stewart and the Playground Amateur Radio Club hold weekly Sunday rallies for radio amateurs. Free events provide opportunities for free training, live broadcasts, learning technical skills, and more. The next one is August 14th from 3-5pm at 17 1st St SE, Fort Walton Beach.
The fun of sciPad
The Emerald Coast Science Center’s next sciPad with SMALLab will take place on August 17th at Memorial Pkwy SW 31, Fort Walton Beach, from 1-3pm. The activity is a concrete learning environment in which every learner is involved, moving and collaborating. Solve puzzles together, take part in quiz games, learn about the world, play memory and matching games, and more. Think of it as playing on an interactive, room-sized iPad between the ages of 2 and 102.

Sound Cafe + Enlightenment Studio hosts weekly Open Comedy Nights, with the next on August 18th at 142 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach from 9pm-midnight. Give the audience some laughs or show some tricks.
Destin Okaloosa library closes staff training
The Destin Library will be closed all day Friday, August 19 for annual staff training. Library staff will not be able to assist patrons by phone or email. All six Okaloosa County Public Library partner libraries participated in the training and will be closed throughout the day. Customers can still update their items or put them on hold through the readokaloosa.org website. Normal business hours for each library will resume on Saturday, August 20. Ruthie’s Notions in Baker is hosting a Christmas sewing class in August. Make It and Take It Poinsettia course for Luminaire sewing machine users featuring Barbara Jones. From August 19th to 20th from 10am to 4pm at the store at 1365 Barnhill Road, John Riley. Doors open at 9am for $148 per person including kit and lunch. GriefShare Grief Recovery Workshop and Support Group
The GriefShare recovery workshop and support group will begin on September 1st at 1pm at Destin United Methodist Church at 200 Beach Blvd. The meeting will resume at 1:00 pm every Thursday after that. Child care services are available upon request.
GriefShare features nationally recognized grief recovery subject matter experts. Workshops include “Is This Normal?”; “The Challenge of Grief”; “Grief and Your Relationship”; “Why?”; and “Guilty and Anger.”
Avenue Farmers Market
The Grand Boulevard Farmers Market is held every Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm at Grand Park in the heart of Grand Boulevard, South Walton. Bring your shopping bag for local produce, eggs, jams and pies. Homemade soaps, good olive oils and pickled stuff are all available.
Rosemary Beach Farmers Market
Visit the 30A Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach on Sundays from 9am-1pm. The local farmers market is held year-round on Sundays and Thursdays throughout the summer at North Barrett Square in Scenic 30A.
Taylor Dane concert rescheduled
The Marty Kelly Foundation for the Arts (MKAF) has announced that Taylor Dayne’s concert scheduled for Thursday, May 26 has been postponed to a later date due to inclement weather. Due to the impending bad weather and for safety and logistical reasons (setup/concert preparation). The concert has been postponed until Thursday, October 13th. Tickets will automatically transfer to this new date.

The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street program allows local families, businesses and community groups to provide valuable community services by adopting street sections to remove trash and debris. Groups participating in the program will list their names on the city’s website and install signage on the streets they adopt.
