With Dewa’s donation, Al Jalila Foundation is closer to its AED750 million fundraising goal

The Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (Dewa) has donated AED 30 million to Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital.

With this, the Al Jalila Foundation is closer to its 750 million dirham fundraising goal; since its announcement, it has raised 330 million dirhams in four months.

In April, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced plans to establish the UAE’s first cancer charity hospital in the UAE. Named after Mdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In less than four months since the announcement, the Al Jalila Foundation has raised AED 330 million through large donations from philanthropists, government and non-governmental organizations, and UAE companies and corporations.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Emirates Airlines and Chairman of the Al Jalila Foundation’s Board of Directors, said: “The Al Jalila Foundation aims to build medical capabilities to strengthen the UAE’s health system. The health and well-being of UAE citizens and residents Well-being is one of our top priorities. Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital will become a leader in cancer care and provide services to patients in need. We thank Dewa and charities for working together to help the most Vulnerable groups have access to high-quality medical and healthcare services.”

This 250-bed hospital covers an area of ​​50,000 square meters and will provide first-class outpatient, outpatient and diagnostic services, as well as inpatient and surgical services in a nurturing environment with personalized patient care. It will be constructed in two phases. The first phase is expected to open at the end of 2023. It has 150 beds and can treat 30,000 patients per year.
