The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched the Green Summer Competition as part of the “Make This Summer Green” campaign.
DEWA launched this event for the sixth consecutive year in June 2021, with the theme “Creating Eternal Memories”.
The competition encourages all community members to adopt a responsible and sustainable lifestyle in an interactive and entertaining manner. Participants can log in to their DEWA account on the smart app and complete three levels to enter the final sweepstakes for valuable prizes. The winners will be announced in late September 2021.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, emphasized DEWA’s efforts to ensure that future generations have a brighter future in a safe and sustainable environment. DEWA provides a variety of tools, smart services, and protection techniques to implement Dubai’s environmental protection strategy, consistent with a demand-side management strategy that aims to reduce electricity and water demand by 30% by 2030.
“DEWA follows a comprehensive strategy to creatively and effectively involve all members of society in the protection of natural resources and promote healthy competition. Our goal is to build a sustainable heritage, not only for infrastructure and sustainable services, but also for mitigation Sustainable practices for climate change,” Al Tayer added.
“During the year, DEWA launched innovative initiatives with incentives so that our customers can reduce consumption. Our plans and initiatives between 2011 and 2020 have achieved cumulative savings of 2.44 TWh of electricity and 6.7 billion gallons in the target group. Water is equivalent to saving 1.35 billion dirhams and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.22 million tons,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, DEWA’s executive vice president of strategy and government communications.
The “Let’s Make This Summer Green” campaign highlights DEWA’s “Smart Living” plan, allowing customers to independently monitor their consumption by logging in to their DEWA account on the website or smart app and viewing their data dashboard to monitor Consumers, learn more about the tariff section for residential customers, get protection tips, and develop their protection plan. Customers can also benefit from the “My Sustainable Living” program, compare their consumption with similar households, or purchase energy-saving and water-saving equipment from the DEWA store.
DEWA provides many protection techniques on its website, smart applications, official social media, internal and external channels.
Residential, commercial, industrial, and government customers can obtain a “Handbook of Energy-saving and Water-saving Measures” to learn about power-saving and water-saving technologies.
