The Dubai Future Lab (DFL) has become an exceptional laboratory where engineers are developing game-changing solutions for key challenges in government, the private sector and some of society.

Launched at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, DFL defied one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century, reflecting Dubai’s unwavering commitment to designing a better future in the face of adversity.
As a platform for designing, developing and testing advanced technologies that put scientific research and data into practice in real-world settings, DFL contributes to accelerating the deployment of cutting-edge solutions in robotics, artificial intelligence and automation at critical times.
During the pandemic, for example, the team focused on a project to address ventilator shortages. Overseen by 25 experts, the M061 project developed ventilators using off-the-shelf components that are easy to source, assemble, and deploy. An updated prototype will be released later this year, when it will also be certified.

DFL is also helping with logistical challenges amid strained global supply chains. Working with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and other key partners, DFL has developed the first drone delivery service for groceries, with the potential to scale up with greater efficiency.
DFL works with governments and the private sector to identify technical challenges and then design commercially and economically viable solutions, services and software through robotics and artificial intelligence.
Autonomy and drones are key areas of focus for DFL. Together with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, it has established a support area for drone operators and technology to facilitate testing and certification. Working with food delivery aggregators, air cargo operators and healthcare providers, DFL is analysing the entire spectrum of drone technology to exploit its potential.
