DIC signs ambitious deal to develop UAE manufacturing

Dubai Industry City (DIC), a member of Tecom Group PJSC, has signed three strategic partnerships to attract international manufacturers to strengthen the UAE and Dubai’s industrial ecosystem.

The deals were signed with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE), Emirates Development Bank (EDB) and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) to stimulate economic growth in the UAE. Expand local and regional opportunities

These agreements will expand opportunities for local and regional industrial growth through Dubai Industrial City’s purpose-built ecosystem, creating a multi-pronged approach that fosters collaboration between the public and private sectors to address advanced manufacturing, sustainability and Economic priorities such as food security. In addition, EDB will provide AED 1 billion (US$ 270 million) in financing for DIC’s clients.

The joint efforts to develop the UAE’s manufacturing and industrial sector will be strengthened as DIC renews its partnership with EDB to secure AED1 billion in financing for its clients. Both entities will support the development of advanced and sustainable manufacturing and logistics in the UAE by providing innovative financing and banking solutions to SMEs.

Al Naqbi said: “Today’s signing of this MoU underscores the important role of the EDB in strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the UAE’s economy. In 2022, the EDB has approved AED513.4 million to finance projects and businesses located in the DIC.

New partnership with MoCCAE and DET in Dubai

Dubai City of Industry and MoCCAE signed an agreement to promote food security in support of the National Food Security Strategy 2051. Both parties will promote the use of advanced technologies to strengthen the local food production sector and emphasize the importance of innovation, knowledge sharing and nutritional security.

Eng Alameeri emphasized that all partners support the UAE’s competitiveness and achieve its goal of enhancing food security based on environmentally friendly and climate-smart innovative solutions and modern technologies.

Sustainability remains a key pillar of DIC and the UAE’s overall manufacturing roadmap, and the agreement signed between DIC and MoCCAE will contribute to the decarbonization of the industrial sector. The two parties will work together to implement environmental laws and decrees, and facilitate the UAE carbon registry and credit mechanism to support the decarbonization of the industrial and logistics sectors under the UAE’s 2050 Net Zero Emissions Strategy.

The agreement with Dubai DET will contribute to Dubai’s economic agenda “D33” by attracting foreign direct investment in manufacturing and logistics. By showcasing the ecosystem’s ready-to-use products to a global audience, Dubai Industry City aims to attract international manufacturers to set up and export in Dubai and the UAE.
