Digital Partnership Welcomes Six New Observers

The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) welcomed six new observers – BTECH, Deloitte, Islamic Development Bank, Mobily, OneWeb and Visa, who will join the existing 16 DCO observers.

DCO Observers represent international organizations, academic institutions, NGOs and the private sector from all sectors of the digital economy, working closely with the DCO through its programs and initiatives to foster international cooperation across the digital ecosystem and achieve digital prosperity for all.

As DCO observers, newly joined organizations will use their technical expertise, knowledge and capabilities to support the DCO’s goals of bridging the digital divide and empowering countries to build strong, inclusive and sustainable digital economies.

•BTECH, Bahrain Technology Companies Association, is a not-for-profit entity established in 2012 to establish a strong foothold in Bahrain’s ICT industry and raise its ICT industry to a globally competitive level.

• Deloitte is a global consulting firm focused on digital innovation, enabling organizations of all types and sizes to thrive in the digital world by transforming operations and optimizing the use of technology.

• The Islamic Development Bank is a multilateral development finance institution that harnesses digital innovations for economic development and social progress in its member countries, with a focus on Islamic finance and sustainable development.

•Mobily is one of the largest telecommunications companies in the Middle East, focusing on innovative services and digital solutions for different industries.

• OneWeb is a global telecommunications network powered by a constellation of 648 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, providing high-speed, low-latency connectivity to governments, businesses and communities around the world.

•Visa is a leading global payments technology company, driving the adoption of new payment technologies and digital payment methods.

Hassan Nasser, DCO’s vice president of international affairs and membership, said: “Working with these six new observers is the latest leap forward for DCO as we continue to build strategic partnerships and play an active role in harnessing the power of the digital economy. Each Both organizations bring unique expertise and critical knowledge to the DCO that will support our mission to achieve digital prosperity for all and advance the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”

The DCO’s programs work to accelerate inclusive growth in the digital economy, and its ranks have grown to represent nearly 600 million people and a $2 trillion GDP. Its program works to support women, youth and entrepreneurs in harnessing the power of the digital economy across its 13 member states.

Going forward, the organization hopes to continue its rapid expansion across the digital economy ecosystem, leveraging partnerships with leading private sector companies, academic institutions, think tanks, civil society organizations, international organizations, and North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa— trade arab news agency
