Skardu – The Federal Government is in talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to launch direct flights to Skardu, Aun Chaudhry, Tourism and Sports Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM), has confirmed.
The consultant made the remarks while visiting the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 in Dubai; he believes direct flights between the UAE and Skardu will boost tourism in the northern region.
Chowdhury said the prime minister had directed him to take key steps to work with the private sector to boost tourism in the country.
He pointed out that since Pakistan has the potential to develop tourism, it is imperative for the government to help travelers explore attractive destinations like Skardu.
The Tourism and Sports Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) joined a 25-member delegation in Dubai (TDAP), Pearl Continental Hotel, Hashoo Group, etc.
Aun Chaudhry also commended the Pakistani Embassy in the UAE and TDAP for supporting Pakistani exhibitors at the event.
Earlier, Pakistani Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi called Pakistan’s participation in ATMs after a long break as an important step forward that will boost the country’s tourism industry and enhance its soft image globally.
In terms of flights between the UAE and Skardu, this development will attract Emiratis to Pakistan for holidays. At present, UAE residents generally go to Schengen countries for vacation, with pleasant climate, convenient visa and accessible flights.
Skardu can be another option for Emiratis as it offers attractions like Deosai National Park, Upper Kachura Lake, Manthokha Waterfall, Satpara Lake, Sheosar Lake, Katpana Desert, among others. Another advantage that can benefit foreigners is that these places are very economical in terms of accommodation and food.
