[ad_1]

Dmitry Bivol will follow up with the biggest win of his career.

It’s a distraught former title fight with undefeated southpaw Gilberto ‘Zuldo’ Ramirez, as the two will clash for the WBA light heavyweight title in Bivor. The two fighters added weight to their scheduled 12-round bout on Saturday (1:30 p.m. ET) on DAZN TV by Matchroom Boxing at the Etihad in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Aired at the “Championship Series” press conference at the Arena.

Bivol (20-0, 11KOs) is 174.7 pounds as he attempts his tenth defense of the WBA “super” light heavyweight title. Ramirez (44-0, 30KOs) weighed 174.6 pounds before he became a two-division champion.

Bivol made his Tour de France debut since the DAZN pay-per-view headlines in Las Vegas on May 7, surpassing fourth-class champion and pound-for-pound king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The 31-year-old longtime defending champion from St. Petersburg, Russia was the clear winner for all observers, but he had to settle for a 115-113 score on all three cards.

Friday’s weigh-in marked the fifth anniversary of Bivol’s first defense of the title since being promoted to the full WBA light heavyweight title. Bivol, co-promoted by Matchroom Boxing and World of Boxing, secured a pre-promotion second-tier belt before knocking out Trent Broadhurst in the first round in the November 2017 title fight in Monte Carlo, Monaco .

Ramirez (44-0, 30KOs) is a previous WBO super middleweight champion, which he won by unanimous decision over Arthur Abraham in April 2016. Five-time defending champion followed, before rising to light heavyweight starting with a win over Tommy Karpency in April 2019.

Ramirez saw his career stall as a result of his feud with Top Rank before parting ways in 2020. The 31-year-old fighting pride of Mazatlan, Mexico, has signed with Golden Boy Promotions, winning three straight wins under their banner to advance to a mandatory spot in the WBA rankings. He came in after a fourth-round knockout of Dominic Boesel on May 14 to cement his status as Bivol’s next challenger.

Jessica McCaskill (12-2, 5KOs) has taken a rare slimming step in her quest to become the undisputed two-division champion.

The Chicago-based direct/WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO welterweight queen weighed in at 139.4 pounds when she returned to junior welterweight. McCaskill takes on WBC/IBF champion Chantelle Cameron, their undisputed junior welterweight champion at 139.6 pounds, with the vacant WBA/WBO title at stake.

McCaskill (12-2, 5KOs) won the unified WBA/WBC title in her three fights in the 140-pound division. Then moved up to welterweight, defeating long-reigning undisputed champion and pound-for-pound queen Cecilia Braekhus in August 2020. Three title fights followed, including another victory over Braekhus in March last year, as the 38-year-old had lost their streak to Ireland’s Katie Taylor in the 2017 lightweight title fight. Seven wins.

Cameron (16-0, 8KOs) quickly established himself as a 140-pounder in his five-year career. The 31-year-old from Northampton won the vacant WBC 140lb title in October 2020 with a victory over the undefeated Adriana dos Santos. Cameron beat Mary McGee in the WBC/IBF unification match in London last October 30 after two matches. She followed that up with a 10-round victory over Victoria Bustos in London on May 21.

Shavkat Rakhimov and Zelfa Barrett will compete for the vacant IBF junior lightweight title. Tajikistan’s Rahimov (16-0-1, 13KOs) and Manchester’s Barrett (28-1, 16KOs) are both within the 130-pound limit in what will be the first time in Abu Dhabi Major title fight.

The winner will be required to next face Joe Cordina, a former champion who failed to defend Rahimov in this match with a fractured right hand that required surgery. disenfranchised.
