Eagle-eyed residents may have spotted the name change of their internet provider to “UAE 51” on Wednesday, November 23. If you did find out, you might be wondering “why?” Well, it’s in celebration of UAE National Day.
The UAE will celebrate its 51st birthday on Friday 2 December and all those who call the UAE home will be able to take part in national celebrations to mark the occasion.
Every year, the private and public sectors take a day off so they can come together and celebrate. UAE National Day falls on a Friday, but remember that Thursday 1 December is Remembrance Day (formerly known as Martyrs’ Day), so most UAE residents will enjoy a four-day long weekend. The news was confirmed by the Federal Government Human Resources Administration.
