Drake and 21 Savage are being sued by the publisher of Vogue magazine.
Conde Nast has filed a lawsuit against the star, accusing them of using the Fashion Bible’s name without permission to promote their new album ‘Her Loss’, arguing that the musician’s promotional campaign was “entirely” based on the unauthorized use of Vogue’s trademark and false Claims they will appear on the publication’s next cover with “love and support” from editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The suit, filed in Manhattan federal court earlier this week, said the pair took advantage of “the tremendous value that Vogue cover features have,” adding: “All of this is wrong. And none of this has been awarded to Condé Nast. authorized..
“Vogue and its editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, had no part in her loss or publicity and did not endorse her in any way.
“Nor did Condé Nast authorize, let alone support, create and widely disseminate a fake fashion magazine, or possibly a fake version of one of the most carefully curated covers in all of the publishing industry.”
The publisher said Drake and Savage created a fake version of the magazine, which was distributed in major metropolitan areas, with posters mimicking Vogue’s layout.
They argue that this has led to “apparent” confusion among the public, including the media that has hailed the couple as the magazine’s “new cover star”.
Conde Nast, also known as Advance Magazine Publishers Inc., is seeking at least $4 million in damages, or for stars to triple their profits from their albums and “fake” magazines.
They also seek punitive damages and an end to any trademark infringement.
The publisher said that since October 31, they have made several attempts to resolve the issues without legal action.
